Nappy Hour is dedicated to rest. The free event will feature yoga by Zania Ahava and live improvised music by Marcus Amaker and Roger Mindwater. All three artists will also perform poetry. Participants will be encouraged to turn off their phones, be still, and enjoy the immersive experience.

About the artists
Born and raised in Charleston SC, Zania Ahava is an Actor, Poet and Creative based in NYC. She recieved her classical training at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts where she recieved the James Fisher award. While studying in New York she rediscovered her love of poetry and has been performing as a spoken word artists for 3 years. As a creative she uses poetry and acting in an intersection way, often creating pieces centered around self love self worth and the feeling of otherness. Her art is unapologetic af! She uses her own journey through “womanhood” as a catalyst to inspire through poetry. A proud believer of activism through art.
Because Art is just a reflection of the world we see, it should be just like the world everchanging. It should be bold, and even scary thats what makes a piece beautful when you’ve found a way to communicate a realness.
Roger Mindwater is a human shaped swirl of energy intent on listening to the universe and sharing his perspective on the vibrations. Roger has produced numerous albums of music and a few books of poetry during his time on Earth. He is in love, in meditation, and surrounded by good family, good friends, good animals, and good plants.
Marcus Amaker (he/him) takes daily naps, and is Charleston, South Carolina’s first poet laureate. He’s also an opera librettist, an electronic musician, and an award-winning graphic designer of a national music magazine. He’s an Academy of American Poets fellow, and his poetry has been recognized by NPR, The Washington Post, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Garden & Gun, The Kennedy Center, and more. His tenth book is Hold What Makes You Whole. Marcus’ original opera with composer Gillian Rae Perry, The Weight of Light, will premiere at the Chicago Opera Theater in 2024. His 40th album, a machine & its threads, will be released by an electronic music label based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
